[ Kyon went home. Kyon went home and the world didn't even notice. Which in some ways is not surprising - he went home just as they were going to Malnosso World. Oh sure the Brigade in Luceti probably noticed as the (increasingly infrequent or at least shorter due to the small size) meetings had him absent where he never really was before but for the most part? Who cared?

Well, Haruhi did.

And because of Haruhi caring around that, she threw herself hard into studying again. In Malnosso World she could work on making progress with her Extended Brigade but in the first week back she signed up for all sorts of missions to not get accepted to any. And so... she studied. Magic, technology, history, cryptoids, anything she could do apart from people because she didn't want to deal with people. Which is why apart from jogging in the morning, going to the Brigade HQ for meetings, and going home at night (maybe a snack between) much of Haruhi's time was in the library and she looks increasingly frumpy. As in she hasn't slept great and her hair has been better. You can encounter her doing this, or you might encounter her practicing some sigils, or meditating for spirits as the weeks drag on... but eventually:]

A lot of people have shown themselves to be sort of stupid here before now, but does anyone have some interesting facts or stories to tell me? I want to know more about whatever you want to tell me about. And if you don't, someone come to the HQ and help me test out some things. I've been working on some spells or ways to work with the Filial Spirits. So come on, Luceti.

Now that you mention it, I think most of the Greek gods weren't picky in the gender of their partners either.

I knew it! That means that there is sexual tension with soldiers, right?! No wonder there's all those silly war movies which are pretty like that!

I don't see how Ares having sex with men translates to that, but Aphrodite and Ares were pretty close, maybe they even worked together. Some wars were started by love and desire after all. And there's that saying that basically equates love and war.

There aren't televisions inside volcanoes. And I didn't have time either, too busy fighting in wars started by deities.

Why do you live inside of a volcano?

Because I like it there. Not many people go to one, specially if it's active, and the heat and steam help me recover even faster than normally from wounds.

So the heat doesn't melt you either?

I would be a lousy phoenix if it did, don't you think?

Oh... so what sort of heat can you take? Any heat? Is there a limit?

If there is I haven't found it. Cold doesn't bother me either, though there are some cold temperatures that do affect me. But they can only be reached by a handful number of individuals and gods.

That's really convenient for you on both counts, isn't it?

I suppose it is, the heat thing is more convenient actually. Most of the people I fight against are often capable of creating a cold freezing enough that it will affect even me.

Being able to freeze everything is that common of power?

I didn't say that, just that the people I fight against are powerful enough that they could do that. But not all of them have ice affinity per say.

Being powerful doesn't necessarily mean they can freeze things was all I meant!

That's what I was saying as well. Guess I didn't explain it properly or something. I'm not used to explaining things anyway.

But you've been telling me so many interesting things?! Are you feeling okay?

As okay as one can feel while being trapped in this place. I suppose it's because this is the first time in years that I get to properly think of who I really am.
