Appointments Post ( I )

This post here is for personal conversations which should happen but one or both of us doesn't want to put up a new post/log and thus we will just thread it out here. This can be used to thread with Haruhi anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

...you know what? I think we need to start dedicating a night a week to all of us in the house just hanging out. You know, bonding or whatever. Did I tell you this already?

So you mean me and the Shibuyites? I think you mentioned it once or twice, but we've never really pursued it.

[Not seriously, anyway]

Well would you be totally against it? It's not that different...

Well no, I guess I wouldn't be opposed to it as a rule... [it's just that they are all yours. Your friends who you took in and invited without much heads up for her. Oh well]

[Well, speak up and tell her that. As far as Shiki knows, Haruhi's been begrudgingly fine with it.] Would it make you feel better if we dragged Kyon in, too?

Why would I want to drag Kyon into it? [She huffs, then goes down to blow some bubbles in the hot water. She then rises again, sighs...] ...He doesn't live with us. It'd be pointless. It's just annoying to have people moving in all the time.

...okay if that was the real problem why didn't you just tell me? I'm sure Beat and Rhyme could have found an apartment close by.

They moved in before I ever had a chance to ask - Rhyme got in while I wasn't even in the village.

[...sigh.] Look, I'm sorry. I guess I just...you know...kind of assumed you'd be okay with it because you were okay with me and Neku.

I'm okay with you. [And she pokes Shiki on the shoulder, looking at her with deeply appreciative eyes] I don't mind Neku, but he's also a package deal with you.

[And that just earns her a slightly wry smile. Yeah, she knows.] What about if he wasn't? If Neku and I had nothing to do with each other romantically, would you have taken him in back then?

I can't answer that. [...] I took him in to prevent you from going, which I figured you would if I didn't. It just made more sense to take him to keep you. I can't possibly know if that would be a problem if you weren't attached at the hip, "romantically." That thing people call friendship would probably still be a factor.

[She's quiet for a few moment, sinking lower to blow bubbles in the water as she debates how to word what she's really thinking. She comes back up soon enough, but just enough to speak.]

...I never would have left. [Well that's not exactly true. She might have considered it, and she might have tried leaving for a short time, but she wouldn't have stayed away. She already knows that.] Not really. Sure, Neku's one of my best friends...but you are too. You are my best friend. [A beat.] I didn't realize I was really that important even back then.

Well, you were - I mean, I'd only been living with... you know. [Kyon. Kyonko, in her memories] for a long time, even if other people were in and out, it was lonely. I still missed my parents then... more than I do now, I mean, and having someone in the house with me meant a lot.

And I think I knew that which is partially why I stayed. I know I can't replace everyone's that left but I gotta say I'm impressed how far we've come.

Yeah... I'm not sure I would have expected us to get here. [And... despite the hot springs ness. she leans on Shiki]

Considering how many times you called me an idiot and told me to go away? [She doesn't mind in the slightest.] Bet you're glad I'm determined now.

...I think...you might even be closer to me than Neku. Like officially.

[I mean, she's thought that. She didn't know Shiki did]

Well yeah. You have to remember that I've only known him for a little longer than you. It was only like a month before we got pulled here...and he was here for a month before he left and then I met you. You were here for a really long time before you left, but you came back too and it was like nothing changed. When Neku left and came back, it was like things were super-weird both times.

Huh. [Well if shiki says so. She thinks it was sort of weird when she came back, but whatever. She just keeps up with the leaning against her thing]

[No worries here, keep calm and lean on. It was really bizarre and kind of a power struggle but Shiki feels like they both grew from it.] ...besides, you're always looking out for me, especially the times when he disappears. That means a lot more than you think.

It's sort of pathetic that times when he disappear are common enough that we mention them as a part of our relationship.
