38th: The Generality of Haruhi Suzumiya

Okay, does everyone remember the raffle with fabulous prizes that my very talented minion, Duplica, ran some time ago?! [this, that is] Well it's time to announce the results!

[Haruhi is standing in front of a shoe box filled with raffle tickets. Well, "filled." Either way, she rummages in there to pick the first name] There might be ten prizes, but there can only be three winners! This draw is for the third pick of prize and it's... [Pull out and reading:] Fenimore! One of the close runners up in the SOS-Brigade's Cross Beauty Pageant a while back! Congratulations! [Fist pump, and now rummage for number 2...] Aaaand it's our very own Oswald! The so-called Lucky Rabbit lucks out with second pick! And the number one ceed goooooes to... [Rummage and pull out-- whoa]

Wow, whoever this is has really nice handwriting. [Okay... reading-] Sakura... Oogami. Okay, Sakura Oogami, you get first pick! All three of you should head to the SOS-Brigade's HQ to tell me which prize you're claiming! In order, Sakura gets first pick, then Oswald, then Fenimore! And if you liked this raffle, and want to do more fun things like it, you should consider joining the SOS-Brigade!

[Okay and then she sits. There's a short pause before-] Furthermore, anyone who was in the last draft- I heard it was in a different Enclosure. I don't really care about all the details of the fighting, but anyone who can tell me what that other village was like can get the beneficial thanks of the leader of the SOS-Brigade! After all, it's Culture Day, so you might as well.

[She salutes the book! Then the end thought-]

And as a parting thought: Do you like pirates, or ninja?

[She doesn't get why they're a polarized debate. But a job is a job, and she might as well make it fun]

[and Haruhi will be in the HQ for them. But then later in the day she's going to be planting a sign in the ground outside the HQ which reads:

"Got Problems? Come in and Consult the SOS-Brigade!"

And then she's going to be sitting the HQ waiting for clients and answering things on voice the rest of the time.

Not usually, unless you count bears or wild boars as monsters. It's more like "out of the enclosure" where the real danger is: soldiers who are against the people who have us in this bubble, so we're their enemy by proxy, or weather which can make you sick or turn you green. All sorts of problems.

Oh...um...sorry, this is kinda big. So I'm stuck here, can't go home, and it's not really dangerous, but there's a war going on, and people are always having weird things happen to 'em...? That's it so far, right?

Yes, you've got it so far. And everyone has wings.

Right, right! And everyone has wings.

...What am I supposed to do now?! [She's pretty sure she's asked that question already, but now that she's heard the story, it feels more relevant.]

Well there's a lot of options, but basically whatever you can figure out to do here. But I'd start with getting a wardrobe and an apartment, personally.

Eh? An apartment...I don't even have my wallet with me! How am I gonna afford something like that?

Oh, right. [She actually snorts into her tea, amazed she forgot this] Because everything is supplied, everything's free, as long as you can find it here. If you can't, it costs points, but you can read about that onthe back page of the person.

Everything's free? You mean everything, including sunflower seeds and sour vegetables?

[There's a glimmer of excitement in her eyes, and Hamuzou, still atop her head, throws his arms into the air in celebration.]

Those are sort of odd things to focus on, but yes! I mean, it's free for what actually shows up. Certain specialty items you'll need to buy with points, convince an expert to make here and they might charge something, or wait around for them to randomly show up in of the shops but yes, free!

[Letting the odd comment slide. Food is important to her, because she takes care of all the animals. ]

Okay, so...anything I can find, I can keep. And I need to get an apartment and some clothes...and some food for Hamuzou...and then I'm gonna have to do a lot of thinking.

Yes, thinking is something which is very important to do her-- though not so much so you can't hold off on it a bit.

Is there somethin' else I'm supposed to do first, then?

I'd explore, get a feel for the town, at least. But that's me.

I can do that while I look for a place to stay, right? This is kinda weird to me still, I've never been stuck in a black hole before.

Oh, yeah, that's true. As for the place to stay, there's a "Welcome" Center across the street which should have a roster for who lives where.

Okay! That sounds like a good place to start, then, doesn't it, Hamuzou? Thanks a bunch, Haruhi! Is there anything else, or...?

[godbent]

[she knows Azusa... She shakes her head]

Not really. Anything else you can figure out on your own. Just some talk to me more eventually.

[brandnewday]

Mm! I will! If I need anything, you'll be the first person I ask, Haruhi! Next time, we can talk about less serious stuff, too. [Like idols.

With that said, she motions for Hamuzou to leave, so he scurries back up her arm and rests on her shoulder.]
