49th: The Inquisition of Haruhi Suzumiya

[ She went from emo but focused, to focusedly unfocused, to... now. Today is Winry's birthday and when she wakes up in the morning she has resolved to go and visit her this afternoon. But she's been trying to deal with her increasing spotty and overfocus'd desire to know all the things for the past few weeks. The Shard has been getting the better of her for... well okay mostly for worse. So from about 6AM (when she sets out for her morning run all over town) to 2PM Haruhi can be found doing one of three things around the square in a thick coat:

a) Cleaning up and taking out some excessive stuff in the Brigades HQ. There might only be four of them right now, but she's going to get more as soon as she gets over whatever this Shift is. So she has resolved to do this. She is doing this while having a small fireball orbit her head to remind her not to read all the things. So there's that . . .

b) Talking to anyone she sees. First to ask them questions about their lives, their hair, the world, their... everything. Just pestering, annoying questions as she's trying to get it out of her system. She might look annoyed at herself as she's asking them. Also, she'll be working to give out fliers about the SOS-Brigade to sort of spread it... she needs to revise this flier though. If only she could use more words.

c) Shopping. Namely, she is looking for fresh ingredients in the Grocery to make ready for some plans of hers and to re-stock her own house (it's been a while, hasn't it...?), to All Passions to make a request for a new custom jacket, and then to the original and normal Clothing Store to look for some costumes she could use on Shinji and/or Grune when she gets back in business. Also the Item Shop to look for any sort of magical whatevers she can find...

And later in the day she'll be making her way to Winry's and either way, sometime in the night, she'll end up at Good Spirits for some light drinks and to attempt to be social without dissolving into the question monster. ... But she might anyway ]

[Rue munches on an apple as she heads into the village square to do some exploring. With no destination in mind, she pauses by the village, deciding which store to explore for the day.]

Hey, you, smaller girl!

[ the young woman even pointed at her, racing over animatedly without any hint of pause that the ice and snow might make her slip. It doesn't, of course ]

Huh?

[Rue looks over as the young woman runs over.]

Where are you from? What's your name? Hi.

Oh, I'm Rue the-- [she stops herself before she can say "the girl tribute".] I'm Rue from District 11. What's your name?

Haruhi.

What's District 11? How many districts are there?

B

[rutagraveolens]

There's twelve districts, each responsible for producing something for the Capitol. There used to be thirteen, but District 13 was destroyed when they rebelled. [Her words come quickly, the product of years of indoctrination.]

[installing]

[Winry, for her birthday, is not in the smithy like usual. Instead she's holed up in her personal tinker room, so Haruhi will either have to knock at the house door or invade the place.]

[ Admittedly, she saw that coming. She could just come on in, but she knocks on the door anyway ]

[installing]

[Winry forces herself to get up, and trudge to the door. She opens it, and-]

Oh, hey Haruhi.

[godbent]

Hey. Did you have a dinner planned?

[ She doubts it, but... yeah no she just doubts it ]

[installing]

Oh, uh... no. Not really.

[She averts her eyes, and scratches the back of her neck.]

[godbent]

Then do you want me to make you a dinner? We could have a night together. [ Ed isn't home anyway (right? Maybe he came back just in time and she hasn't seen him), so... ]

[It's when he's passing by the Brigade HQ that Shinji notices how busy Haruhi's been today. Even though it's just her, it almost feels lively with how hard she's working. The thought does occur to him that maybe if he's quick, he could probably get away without being noticed, but he reminds himself that that's not why he agreed to join the Brigade, so! He's a bit hesitant at first, but he eventually makes his way in and calls out for her.]

Haruhi?

... Oh, Shinji! It's good to see you! [ She would wave but she's busy moving a box somewhere else ]

Yeah, you, too. [She seems especially enthusiastic today, he thinks, but doesn't think too hard on it otherwise.] Do you need any help?

[godbent]

Well obviously. This sort of labor should be for minions, don't you think?

[shinesbrightest]

Right. [He sighs a little. He should probably be used to the idea of being a "minion" now, but... Whatever.] What do you want me to do? Are you just cleaning?

[godbent]

Yeah, I was looking through our inventory and taking some stuff into the back, some stuff to go to my house, and some stuff to just get rid of. Mostly just stuff we don't need anymore. ]

[soheartless]

[Mytho is just vacantly standing by the fountain. Feel free to question him, Haruhi.]

[ WHAT A GORGEOUS BOY.

Okay no he's young and that would make her pedo, but when she sees him, she knows immediately what to ask. She knows to advance over, pat his hair, and-]

How do you get your hair like this?

[soheartless]

[Wow he's being admired in a very un-pedo way! As he hair is patted, he just quietly glances towards her with a neutral look.]

I don't know. It might have always been like that.

[godbent]

Do you wash it? Condition it? Gel it? It feels natural. Almost feathery soft though. It's strange.

[ Pet... pet...

Pet the swan hair ]

I've washed it. I don't believe that I've done any of those other things...

[He pauses slightly.]

Feathers...

[godbent]

You haven't?

[ Weird. It feels well kept... which is surprising.

She gets in closer to put one arm around him and the other pets him ]
