godbent | 49th: The Inquisition of Haruhi Suzumiya

[Action]

[ She went from emo but focused, to focusedly unfocused, to... now. Today is Winry's birthday and when she wakes up in the morning she has resolved to go and visit her this afternoon. But she's been trying to deal with her increasing spotty and overfocus'd desire to know all the things for the past few weeks. The Shard has been getting the better of her for... well okay mostly for worse. So from about 6AM (when she sets out for her morning run all over town) to 2PM Haruhi can be found doing one of three things around the square in a thick coat:

a) Cleaning up and taking out some excessive stuff in the Brigades HQ. There might only be four of them right now, but she's going to get more as soon as she gets over whatever this Shift is. So she has resolved to do this. She is doing this while having a small fireball orbit her head to remind her not to read all the things. So there's that . . .

b) Talking to anyone she sees. First to ask them questions about their lives, their hair, the world, their... everything. Just pestering, annoying questions as she's trying to get it out of her system. She might look annoyed at herself as she's asking them. Also, she'll be working to give out fliers about the SOS-Brigade to sort of spread it... she needs to revise this flier though. If only she could use more words.

c) Shopping. Namely, she is looking for fresh ingredients in the Grocery to make ready for some plans of hers and to re-stock her own house (it's been a while, hasn't it...?), to All Passions to make a request for a new custom jacket, and then to the original and normal Clothing Store to look for some costumes she could use on Shinji and/or Grune when she gets back in business. Also the Item Shop to look for any sort of magical whatevers she can find...

And later in the day she'll be making her way to Winry's and either way, sometime in the night, she'll end up at Good Spirits for some light drinks and to attempt to be social without dissolving into the question monster. ... But she might anyway ]

[It's when he's passing by the Brigade HQ that Shinji notices how busy Haruhi's been today. Even though it's just her, it almost feels lively with how hard she's working. The thought does occur to him that maybe if he's quick, he could probably get away without being noticed, but he reminds himself that that's not why he agreed to join the Brigade, so! He's a bit hesitant at first, but he eventually makes his way in and calls out for her.]

Haruhi?

... Oh, Shinji! It's good to see you! [ She would wave but she's busy moving a box somewhere else ]

Yeah, you, too. [She seems especially enthusiastic today, he thinks, but doesn't think too hard on it otherwise.] Do you need any help?

Well obviously. This sort of labor should be for minions, don't you think?

Right. [He sighs a little. He should probably be used to the idea of being a "minion" now, but... Whatever.] What do you want me to do? Are you just cleaning?

Yeah, I was looking through our inventory and taking some stuff into the back, some stuff to go to my house, and some stuff to just get rid of. Mostly just stuff we don't need anymore. ]

Well, just tell me where you want everything. I don't think I know enough about this stuff to go through it, so...

[So moving stuff would be easiest!]

You don't have any eye for what's good and what's--- you know what that's not surprising. Okay! [ and with that she turns on her heel to head back into the back room where the big meeting desk is. she's tacked the board games which are missing pieces or just damaged by now here on the center table ]

I just don't want to get rid of the wrong things, that's all.

[The consequences of that would surely be worse! But in the end, it's a weak protest, and he ends up following after her anyway. When he catches sight of the stack of games on the table, he tries to figure out what their fate might be.]

Are you getting rid of all these?

[ Nod. That seems logical]

Or we need to find the missing pieces or re-purpose them for another game. I'm not actually sure which makes the most sense with some of them.

It might be easier to just replace them, or use them for something else. There's no guarantee the missing pieces are even still in here, right?

What, did you eat them?

[Shinji frowns at that.]

Why would anyone even do something like that?

How should I know? I'm not a weirdo who eats game pieces or a goat or anything.

You're the one who asked. Anyway, I was just thinking that people could have accidentally taken them or something. When was the last time this place was really cleaned?

Are you suggesting out HQ is dirty?!

N-no, I was gonna say that if it's been a while, I don't mind doing it. I can handle stuff like that.

[ Oh. She blinks and then relents. Relaxing into an odd expression before she smiles ]

... Then yeah, it has been a while now.

We've got cleaning stuff around here, right?

[He looks around, as if trying to figure out where that stuff might be before she even answers.]

Of course we do! There's some in the closet in the office part!

Okay, I'll go find it. [He turns to go do that, but then looks back at Haruhi for a second.] Oh, uh, if you need anything, just ask, I guess.

[ Of course she will. ... ... But to have him offer like that, she relents a little and tilts her head before ]

We need more members, soon.

[Shinji sounds a bit distracted as he makes his way into the office to find some cleaning things.]

Yeah... It's been a while since we've gotten anyone new, right?
