godbent | 22nd: The Pumpkins of Haruhi Suzumiya

[So things have gotten a bit chaotic in the village and... the moon doesn't look good, masks. Obviously an experiment all around. Haruhi was going to go with Leon's suggestion about carving the pumpkins with the Brigade (maybe make a contest out of it) but the fact is that in light of the current situation, that just doesn't seem to be happening. So... she collected her girlfriend, and decided to combine a nice picnic with carving out some of the pumpkins her and Leon brought to be Brigade room.

You might see them on the grass outside the square, sitting there and either eating or carving out some jack-o-lanterns. Either way, just being there together and chatting. Some of the completed pumpkins stand off to the side, either with faces or with things carved into them. They are prime to be hit up by anyone. Haruhi even has a bag she's been filling up with masks she's collected next to her.

Are those similar to this one or is this the only one that you carve pumpkins for?

This is the only one that involves pumpkins if I remember right.

Only one I know of, anyway.

What sort of rituals do the others have, then? Assuming there are any, that is...

People exchange presents on Christmas.

He's an icon for the holiday.

Yeah! Santa Clause! Or Saint Nick! Or Kris Kringle! All sorts of things like that! [She puffs out her chest, sitting up straighter as she gives the speil] A jolly old guy who rides all over the world giving presents to "good kids" and bad things to "bad kids" - the judge of children everywhere! The man, the legend, the probable alien!

Possibly an alien, and parents are okay with him just giving things to their children? How does he know if they were good or bad? And why so many aliases? No offense, but that makes him sound a little sketchy...

From what I gather he's actually a myth. Don't listen to her, she's... weird.

Even if he is a myth, most myths have some factual basis, you know.
