22nd: The Pumpkins of Haruhi Suzumiya

[So things have gotten a bit chaotic in the village and... the moon doesn't look good, masks. Obviously an experiment all around. Haruhi was going to go with Leon's suggestion about carving the pumpkins with the Brigade (maybe make a contest out of it) but the fact is that in light of the current situation, that just doesn't seem to be happening. So... she collected her girlfriend, and decided to combine a nice picnic with carving out some of the pumpkins her and Leon brought to be Brigade room.

You might see them on the grass outside the square, sitting there and either eating or carving out some jack-o-lanterns. Either way, just being there together and chatting. Some of the completed pumpkins stand off to the side, either with faces or with things carved into them. They are prime to be hit up by anyone. Haruhi even has a bag she's been filling up with masks she's collected next to her.

[Winry, meanwhile, is slicing through the top of a pumpkin in a circle around the steam. She's making a hole so they can eventually pull out the guts! This blond had yet to notice the hesitating woman.]

[Haruhi, meanwhile, is working on scooping guts out of her own into a big popcorn bowl thing next to her. It's a labor intensive thing, which is why she's not, you know, noticing Buffy]

[ she eventually speaks up -- narrating her realization that jilly would probably enjoy the same activity. faux-casual, she advances a little bit closer. ]

[Just what is going on over here? Edward's just out for a walk to ponder what could be done about the moon if it gets too close to the enclosure when she notices the picnic going on not far off. With an uplifted brow, she pauses, considers her options, and then wanders over. No harm in asking, right?]

For Halloween, Ed. It's got nothing to do with that creepy moon.

[The moon is a little creepy. Okay, it's a lot creepy, but there isn't anything about this place that's remotely normal, so panicking over it seems a little out of sorts when, if he panicked over all the weird or creepy things, he would have had a mental breakdown by now.

And so he's not panicking.

Actually, the little picnic with pumpkins has caught his attention moreso than anything else at the moment, if just because he really doesn't understand the whys of carving them up. Holidays, sadly, aren't something Amestris really has in any sort of abundance... if any at all. He's a little hesitant about approaching the girls, but he won't understand the reasons for it unless he asks, right? Curiosity has gotten the best of him.]

...So on Earth, people randomly carve designs in pumpkins which then turns them into lanterns? Wouldn't it be simpler to buy a lantern instead?

It's a holiday tradition, and you can carve different pictures into the pumpkins to make them interesting.

[Oh, are those pumpkins? How nice! It's great to see people being festive despite all the weird stuff going on. Claude decides to check them out, maybe compliment the girls on their work... You know, the usual.

[Claude almost manages to catch himself and not fall flat on his face. But for some odd reason, he's feeling incredibly unlucky lately, so falling is exactly what he does.

Welp.

He quickly rolls over and sits up, mumbling a few, "Ow, ow ow."s before speaking up to the girls.]

Wow. You guys are being pretty chill... I mean, considering. [He spares a cautious look upward.]
