godbent | 31st: The Spells of Haruhi Suzumiya

[Voice / Action for the library]

[For the last 20some days, Haruhi Suzumiya has been obsessively studying. While she slowed down some after the Cultural Fair, it still was a very, very welcome distraction from thinking about how much she was hurt by that break up. Which is why she's been in and our of the library a lot. Finally though today she has decided to prop open the journal and ask for help.]

Hey, Luceti, does anyone recognize these?

[And she moves the journal to focus on:
* Helios's universe basic spellbook
* Basic Buffyverse spellbook (possibly this one or this one)
Lined up next to each other. these are the two she's had the most success with so far... she even more or less mastered one of the spells in the first one.]

Or these?

[And now it focuses on:
* Touhou Grimoire
* CLAMP universe magic tome (Western)
* CLAMP universe magic tome (Eastern)
Much less success here...]

Or this one? [She is much more unhappy sounding at this last book (a Greenhill Academy Rune textbook) because she's had basically no success even figuring out what it is talking about other than it apparently deals with mythology and magic... things.]

Or, I also found the "Writings of Aurelius" next to those first two ones, but I'm not sure if it's got spells in it or not... [it feels ominous, actually... so she figured it might, but- inside it just looks like a bunch of horoscope type things as well as just some weird old school notes]

I'm looking for people who know these books and are willing to tutor me in what's within them. I expect answers ASAP; that is all. [A pause] Also, Leon, since when do you write textbooks? [And then the camera focuses on a book written by Leon DS Geeste on Symbology]

Well, like half of these failed to work for me entirely, so I had to keep trying until I found ones that stick.

[Hey. No preamble or jumping]

...One of the spellbooks you found earlier might be a little more accessible. In that way, I mean. Even I can manage some of the basic charms. The really, really basic ones.

Do you recognize that one?

[She has the Aurelias one at the ready (it's the one just off to the right) but she's going to be digging for that first one]

I do. [ she touches the book of witchcraft's cover. ] I've seen Will use it...countless times.

So... So you can help me work things out with it! I've been looking all over and all I've worked out is some levitation, so far.

[Beaming. Bright grin, even]

Levitation seems to be a pretty common beginner spell, from what I can tell. But a handy one to get good at. Especially once you can lift bigger things.

[ casually, she sifts through the pile before picking up the OTHER book. looking through the pages for something familiar. ]

I've only gotten to smaller things so far, but yeah, I can see the inherent value for it. [and she says an incantation before focusing on a pencil there, making it float. Yes, she still uses one.]

...You're a quick study.

Well this one isn't that difficult! [Okay she lowers her hands, it falls]

Maybe not for you but it's totally difficult for me.

Oh. [...Should she apologize for being callous? Nah, she doesn't. She does sort of screw up her face with a not quite pout because she was thinking about it. Anyway, Buffy is here for the Aurelius thing, right? Maybe she'll get more intel on it... or not. Both work]

[ buffy shrugs her shoulders at that almost pout. ] It's also a difficult thing I'm not very interested in learning, so...no hard feelings. [ not there, at least.

but buffy finds it's easier to be fairer with this girl now that she feels some sort of sympathy. ]

Well you've got a lot of other things backing you up anyway. [...Not that Haruhi doesn't, between her still yet to be understood powers and her athleticism]

Not to mention the fact that Willow's got my back when those back-ups fail.

[ she flips through the books. ] I don't recognize anything else. Any of the other books, I mean. Just those three. Trying to build up a collection?

Morel like I'm testing a bit fro each of them. For everyone book that works I'm finding at least five that don't. I'm theorizing it's either because the magic from those worlds is genetic - therefore I can't do it - or needs some sort of property in the air or ground or whatever that Luceti doesn't have. ...Or counts as summoning, which doesn't work in Luceti.

Thorough.

[ finally, she reaches for the aurelius text. ] Have you found many people matching the books' worlds?

A few. You, this one annoying tall angel guy, someone who knew about "Runes," Helios...

I'm sorry I couldn't be more help. Do you want me to send Willow your way -- when she's back? [ it could be good rehab therapy for the other sunnydaler, she thinks. ] If it's magic you want, she's the witch to talk to.

Oh, if you would that'd be excellent! [She perks up a bit here, actually.]

[ a slow nod: ] It's a deal. A done deal.

Aaaaand I think I'll just be taking that one with me, if you don't mind.

I didn't really find any spells worth doing in that one, so go ahead.

They don't...send goons after you if you don't return library books, do they?
