41st: The Beans of Haruhi Suzumiya

You know, we're coming up on February. [...] I guess the obvious thing is Valentines, given the weird fetish that the Organization has for it, but there's also Setsubun. People from Japan know about that, right? The SOS-Brigade's never really done something for it, but we should this year.

[That said, her voice doesn't have a ton of gusto in it. It's sort of dulled, just... stating things matter-of-factly, almost bored. She's still upset about Minato and various other problems associated with that. She still wants to be alone, but being alone isn't going to help anyone else. She's not quite altruistic enough to care about everyone, but there's a few people...]

I guess the lunar new year would be around now too, wouldn't it? But it's hard to call that unless anyone's been charting the moon too carefully here. And Foundation Day and we missed Coming of Age Day, but who cares about both of those?

[The young woman brushes back some of her hair and frowns slightly. She can't quite bring herself to be peppy, but she's here behind the front desk of her HQ, so she might as well play it straight.] It's the headquarters of the SOS-Brigade.

[Yotsuba ends up wandering into the HQ on a whim. It's a familiar building that in a way isn't, almost like she ran around in here once with a water pistol and Naoi was there too, but that happened so long ago now that- IS THAT A FISH TANK.

Oh man, forget trying to remember the place. Yotsuba stares at the fish in the tank, then tries to wave at them. Did they see? Hmm. Maybe if she puts her hand on the glass of the tank, they would have to see that. Hey fish, heeey, she's trying to say hello.]

[They're fish. Do fish look like that notice you? No, they don't. Because fish.

That said, Haruhi does notice her, sitting behind the front desk of the HQ with her legs crossed and frowning. This was that girl with that one jackass...]

[Wow no these fish will totally notice her okay, she's just not on their level. As such, Yotsuba runs across the room, grabs a chair and drags it over to the fish tank. Then she just needs to climb up onto it and voila, now she can see everything. Everything in the tank anyway.

Now then, the way that fish just turned around right there? It wasn't actually turning around. No, you see, it was actually waving to her. With its tail. Or so she thinks so.]

Hey, I can see you! Yotsuba can see!

[Grune may not be the most observant person in this or any world, but there's one thing she is good at figuring out, and that's when people are upset. Haruhi really doesn't sound like herself today, and Grune intends to find out why so she can make her smile again.

For once, she ignores all the talk of celebrations and cuts to the most important part.]
