31st: The Spells of Haruhi Suzumiya

[Voice / Action for the library]

[For the last 20some days, Haruhi Suzumiya has been obsessively studying. While she slowed down some after the Cultural Fair, it still was a very, very welcome distraction from thinking about how much she was hurt by that break up. Which is why she's been in and our of the library a lot. Finally though today she has decided to prop open the journal and ask for help.]

Hey, Luceti, does anyone recognize these?

[And she moves the journal to focus on:
* Helios's universe basic spellbook
* Basic Buffyverse spellbook (possibly this one or this one)
Lined up next to each other. these are the two she's had the most success with so far... she even more or less mastered one of the spells in the first one.]

Or these?

[And now it focuses on:
* Touhou Grimoire
* CLAMP universe magic tome (Western)
* CLAMP universe magic tome (Eastern)
Much less success here...]

Or this one? [She is much more unhappy sounding at this last book (a Greenhill Academy Rune textbook) because she's had basically no success even figuring out what it is talking about other than it apparently deals with mythology and magic... things.]

Or, I also found the "Writings of Aurelius" next to those first two ones, but I'm not sure if it's got spells in it or not... [it feels ominous, actually... so she figured it might, but- inside it just looks like a bunch of horoscope type things as well as just some weird old school notes]

I'm looking for people who know these books and are willing to tutor me in what's within them. I expect answers ASAP; that is all. [A pause] Also, Leon, since when do you write textbooks? [And then the camera focuses on a book written by Leon DS Geeste on Symbology]

Uh, well, it's a spellbook. It's not terrible, and it seems to have some stuff to work with. I'm just not sure where to get all these ingredients a lot of them need.

What ingredients are you missing? And for what spells?

[Because if it's something he can just will into existence? Totally worth it to see BtVS magic at work. It's actually really exciting, especially since he's never done real spells.]

Well I've worked out some levitation things, and currently I'm looking into glamours. I think I've got something for color changing, so- an apple, and then some sort of catalyst powder. [...Which in the picture is red. What is it with these books and pictures actually? Damn you Giles]

I'm guessing the catalyst is going to be the tricky part. I, uh... I might be able to help with that.

...More or less, yeah. [Might as well be up-front about it. He's really eager to see these spells, okay.]

Alright, then come and look at this picture and find it for me. I don't even see it labelled by name here? "Priming power" or something? It looks like red sand.

Red priming powder? Um... I'll give it a try. [....] I mean, I'll look for it. It sounds familiar.

[Because she expects it to take a while but hey if it's instant that's cool too]

[Give him about an hour to experiment (and blow a few things up in the process, oops) - and then he returns to the journal.]

[It's a quick but not immediate answer]

I found what you were looking for. Where should I bring it?

[Well, he's officially invited. He heads over to the library, then - he'd tried a teleport, but he's still adjusting to the limitations this place had put on his magic, so he hadn't been able to concentrate enough for it - with a little bag of red powder in his pocket. He pokes around, keeping an eye out for the other girl.]

Hello? Anybody home?

[And she's in the back. A huge pile of books on the table in front of her, but open to the one Buffy one. There's also some snacks - apples, crackers, etc. More to make herself stand out than anything she's "bouncing" an Eferin-born fireball on her fingertip, hoping that Billy guy figures her out from that]

[It takes a bit for Billy to find her, and once he does, he raps his knuckles on the nearest bookcase, watching the fire bounce around with interest. He hasn't tried fire yet, so it's really cool.]

Sorry to interrupt- I brought your powder.

[and when he taps he mutters to herself, causing the fire to go out when it descends onto her finger. She then turns with a little smirk] Alright, let's see it.

Here we go- [He tugs the bag from his pocket and tosses it her way, heading over to take a look at the books she has spread out. He's never actually tried spells from books like this, since his magic doesn't really work like that, so this is all new and very, very cool.] Colour changing spell, was it?

It's a type of glamour, so in theory it should fix all the senses, depending on what I try it on. I'm not sure though... [What to try on, mostly. Hmm]

Well duh, that's the dubious one, but the first thing I use should be something disposable.
