5th: The Contamination of Haruhi Suzumiya

So everyone, Valentines is supposed to be about love and stuff, right? But have you ever thought what's up with that Saint Valentine guy who originated the holiday?! Given that it's still popular today, is he just some famous dead guy, or is he now a ghost, trying to appeal to everyone's mind and manipulate them?! Wouldn't that explain how it's popular in both Japan and the West?

Bearing that in mind, even if this holiday is kinda stupid, it's still important to adhere to certain traditions in hopes of seeing any possible Valentines spirits. Because of that, I've gotten chocolate for some of you.

[...Namely all of the guys in the Brigade and grudgingly Minato. She considered some others, like Neku or Sokka, but decided against it. She also considered Winry but she's not sure if that's too weird or not. That said, delivering them? No, she's carrying them around in her bag in case she runs into people for other reasons and failing that going to put what's left in a basket at the HQ after she's done.]

More importantly-! A bunch of you have heard about the beach, right?! And you're all psyched to go there this summer?! Well, brought to you by our SOS-Brigade's genius scientist, Leon [this next part is muttered quickly and might not be heard:] andsomehelpfromSokka we're bringing you the all-new Beach Teleportation System! You know how the ones for the Hot Springs work, right?! Same thing here! The village-end for the teleporter is located in the barracks, and the other end is way off, so we can have easy access once it warms up!

Do you even remember the name of the girl? Or you the name of the boy? I know that as time goes by a first kiss means nothing to the things one experiences, but still I don't think it's something that can be shrugged off like that. It's like a first time having sex, sure it's a natural thing and even necessary and not just for reproduction, it's even good for health, but the first time is a big step. A first kiss and the first time having sex are moments at which the person decides to uncover themselves a little or completely depending on what it is.

It's a moment at which one takes a step to maturity beyond the social stages that are settled, and something important and basically world changing because it's a closed door that's opened and won't ever be able to be closed. I just can't believe that at your time, playing around with such a thing is such a normal thing. No wonder it's not special it has lost any personal value even!

[Keiichi, you....

You really need a girlfriend.]

It can be special the second or hundredth time, too. It's your experience, so you decide that.

You don't get the point! I'm not talking about it being special as in fireworks going off or the world turning pink or any of that romantic bullshit. I'm talking about the meaning, the significance. You can't just take that step with the same ease and carelessness you go out to buy bread!

[And you thinking that he was "cute" was enough to get you to kiss him? Well, at least you remember his name, Haruhi, that's five points for you.]

[...Well he honestly doesn't remember the girl's name from that long ago. He could make something up, but that's not really fair ...~~and he was lying about the first kiss age anyway since it was actually stolen by Minako when they were like 5.~~ But either way-]

[Well that leaves him without words. It's a good question. Who is he waiting for? A year ago he might have said Rena or thought of her, now... He still does but with doubt. Is he waiting for her? Does he really want that to happen with her?

Rena... Is the perfect girl, she's sweet, a bit clumsy but good hearted, she's always trying to help and she has a great personality, despite seeming weak she's actually very strong and brave and wouldn't back up on anything. She's intelligent even if sometimes she doesn't seem very smart and she's fun to be with no matter what's going on around. She's a good cook and is good at the house-chores but she's not abusive about doing them or getting others to help her allowing for an easy understanding to be achieved. She's easy to please, she finds joy at the smallest things and gestures. And when she gets angry she still keeps her patience, she doesn't yell or fight, just talks, coldly and distantly but guiding him to see what the problem is. She doesn't expect him to magically realize where he failed, she helps him to understand it and see how he can fix it. And she always forgives. Even when her head is being smashed, she still forgives and trusts.

He might have fallen in love with her... He may still love her but... Does he want to kiss her? He just said it, right? It's not so much about it being "romantically special" but a personal step, something done with someone you trust, maybe even more than with someone you love.]

I'm... Not really waiting for anyone. I didn't have time to worry about kisses and dates before Hinamizawa and... You both know how it was there so there wasn't that much time for that either.

[He might have an idea of who he would like to kiss, but a quick glance to Haruhi reminds him that it's out of the question.]

[No time for that- oh come on, it's tragedy and strife, that's the perfect time for some of it, based on her experiences in Luceti. As she watches Keiichi's face screw up, she folds her arms, thinking about this and about him and when the words come out she just gives a frustrated sigh]

[Blushing a little, and awkwardly itching her face]

Then kiss me and get it over with.

[.....that's pretty bold, Haruhi, though he's not totally surprised by her suggestion. Keiichi was obviously in dire need of being kissed and there's only one woman here. Now he's just going to sit and ~~popcorn.gif~~ see how Keiichi will react.]

[It being the perfect time for some of it doesn't mean it was appropriate. Or good. Keiichi may not be the best guy out there and he's a pervert, but even he has some sense of what's appropriate or not.

And there were like six girls to choose from, three if the youngest ones were ruled out -though Hanyuu was by far the oldest actually- but...]

[Wait a second. Did you just say...]

[Oh, God!! Twenty-first century kids, can't you be more bold? What's next? Friends that screw up together just because it's convenient and easier to handle than having a boyfriend or a girlfriend and feelings involved??]

[... Then again... She has a point. And actually he isn't even sure if it's normal in his time to be his age and have yet to give the first kiss. And he did say that it's not so much about the romance but about it being something important personally, something that it's easier to share with someone one trusts rather than someone one just loves.

And he trusts Haruhi. And maybe loves her as well. She's special, different from every other girl, including Rena. She's not perfect but he likes it that way, even if at times it drives him nuts and makes him want to forfeit his promise of not hurting girls and punch her...

Or pull at her hair like when he was in kindergarten.]

[So, Haruhi is a good option. A great option in fact. And she's a girl, because Minato may still count as an option but Keiichi would preferably get his first from a girl, thank you very much, no offense meant. And he wants to kiss her. So it's a win-win, thing, right?]

[Right. All he has to do is kiss her and then it will be done. he can do it, right? He trusts her. And cares for her. And wants to do it. He can do it.]

[He can't do it. Who is he fooling? He's a chicken, he's just scared about the whole first kiss thing even if he knows it's nothing that great or special. It's a big step for him. And it's Haruhi.

[God, if this was one of the club's games Mion and the others would have stomped on his corpse... Even if they hadn't given their first kisses, they probably would have won. Just look at him, he can't even bring himself to kiss the girl he wants to kiss when she gives him permission to.

He can almost hear Mion and Shion laughing at him. There would be no end to the mocking.]

[So ~~after an eternity~~ finally, Keiichi pulls himself up and without another world but a determined expression in his face, he reaches for Haruhi, hand slipping behind her head as he moves closer... And pulls her into a kiss. Close lips, mind you, but with all the determination and passion he can muster. At least it won't be a sloppy kiss.]

[...What is this parade of expressions on his face? Haruhi watches all these, mesmerized and frankly a little dumbfounded that she could pull this fort of reaction out of a guy who, she knows, is probably second only to her in terms of estimating cup sizes in the Brigade. Whose girl form unabashedly estimated "package" sizes. Like... seriously, a first kiss isn't that big of deal, is it? As she watches him freak out and be flustered she finds herself getting hot around the collar what with secondhand embarrassment.

She is almost - almost - tempted to call it off because good God could this be more awkward]
